There is a movement to rational fiction, and it’s interesting. A whole sub genre of fan fiction explores what would happen if, say, Harry Potter was a highly rational person.
It’s interesting, but ultimately not likely to ever be a top selling genre. The human condition is what many people read for, those foibles and mistakes that ultimately make up most of what we do.
I believe that in fiction people need to be irrational in interesting and convincing ways, not rational and logical. They still need to be consistent, even if only in their inconsistency.
