I am trying to figure out what to do about editing Resource Economies right now. I have a cover artist preparing some concepts for me right now, but I don’t have an editor. Now, I could do it myself, but I think I should get some more professional advice. I’m also going to Beta Readers (if you are interested email me) in the very near future.
The editor thing, I know it’s a lot of work, and I have to figure out what to do with it. Right now I have a company in the US and a woman in Scotland who are potentials. I know the rate for the Americans, and I’m waiting on the Scottish woman. It’s a big decision, and one I don’t want to rush into.
Now, I’m not looking at line edits right now; I want to do story edits first. I will get it as polished as I can before I go there, and where I can, I will get sample edits, review portfolios, all of that. I haven’t worked with a professional editor before. All I had for A Long Walk was line edits done by a volunteer. In the end, I think it turned out alright anyway, but maybe I should have looked at story edits.
I’m excited, but a bit trepidatious.
