The event with the terrible name, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Of course, it’s international these days, which should technically make it InNoWriMo using the same pattern.
I’ve only done NaNoWriMo once, two years ago. I skipped last year despite my intentions. This year I’m writing full time. I plan to continue to write 2500 words a day over November. I might even up it a tiny bit, going to 3K. Point is, I will be participating. I have a novel picked out, and the general plot. The exact details are still being developed. It’s the sequel to my current work in progress which will be complete by the beginning of November.
My first time doing NaNoWriMo was a big success, however. It was my first novel. I edited it a great deal after that, but it was a complete novel by the end of that November. I added almost ten thousand words to it in editing, and I will be editing it again for a new edition. I think that the speed of writing helped a great deal. It made me create a story that worked, and it made me do it fast.
I encourage anyone who is interested in getting into writing to start with NaNoWriMo.
